Bahrain Telecom plans to build BGN terrestrial optical cable system to connect all Gulf countries
According to reports, this BGN optical cable system will connect all Gulf countries in the Arabian Gulf region, with a designed capacity of up to 8.8Tbps to further increase bandwidth capacity and provide high-definition services to regional users. Adel Al-Daylami, head of global affairs at Bahrain Telecom, said, "The BGN terrestrial optical cable system is the most reliable complement to the vulnerable submarine cable system. With high capacity and short path, it is the lowest delay optical cable system in the Gulf." According to the plan , this 1,400-kilometer terrestrial optical cable system will be managed and operated by Bahrain Telecom. In the future, it will also be connected to the regional submarine cable system to obtain international Internet connections to Europe, Asia, Africa and other regions.
